Getting pregnant and bearing a life within herself is the most elevating and soul-satisfying experience a woman can go through. Rightly said it is, a woman is somewhere incomplete until she bears a life. But unfortunately, for some women, conceiving is not as easy as other women. On an average, a woman will conceive within the six months of trying to conceive. But if the time extends for more than 6 months, it is not normal.
Once you and your partner have decided to bring a new member to your family, you should start seeing a doctor. While conceiving purely depends on the time of your ovulation and the quality of your spouse’s sperm, but your lifestyle and diet play yet important role in potency as well as miscarriage.
But don’t worry, with a little extra care of yourself and some dietary intervention, conception it can be made possible.
It boosts up the chances of pregnancy in women by improving the blood circulation in the uterus and enhancing the uterine lining. It facilitates the healthy growth of the foetus. It also boosts up sperm count in men.
Make a powder of pomegranate seeds and bark. Blend them well and stock it in a jar. Take ½ teaspoon of this powder with a glass of lukewarm water two times daily. Do this for some weeks. You can also drink pomegranate juice daily.
2. Olive Oil
Olive oil is great for increasing your fertility. The monosaturated fat in the olive oil improves the reproductive health of an individual.
The monosaturated fat in olive oil increases the chances of live birth in women going for in-vitro fertilization.
Drink 1-2 tbsp. of olive oil every day. Use olive oil for cooking or in salad dressings.
3. Maca Root
This is a hormone-regulating herb which improves fertility and strength. It keeps oestrogen and progesterone in balance in women, which are directly linked to fertility in women. It is rich in iron which is essential for women before conception. It also improves sperm count and motility in males.
Add ¼ to ½ teaspoons of Maca root powder with a cup of water and drink it every day. You can also get this herb in the capsule form from your doctor. But make a note, don’t take this herb if you’re already pregnant.
Ayurveda promotes the consumption of dates to increase the fertility in an individual. They are enriched with vitamins and minerals which improve fertility.
Do away with the seeds from 10-12 dates.
Grind them in a grinder with some coriander roots until you get it in a paste form.
Add ¾ cup of cow’s milk to the mixture. Boil it.
Drink this milk for 7 days from the date of your last menstruation.
You can also eat dates as a snack.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar
Many health experts commend apple cider vinegar to boost fertility. It gets rid of the toxins from the body and maintains healthy hormonal levels.
Although it is acidic in nature, it has an alkalinizing effect on our body. It keeps up with the alkaline pH in our saliva and our vagina as well, which creates a room for conception.
It also treats candida, which is another cause of infertility in women.
Add 2-3 teaspoons of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar and a tablespoon of raw honey to a glass of water. Drink this twice every day.
You can also add a cup of apple cider vinegar to your bathtub and have a bath before sleeping.
6. Stress Management
During this phase of life, you must be going through a lot of emotional turmoil. So it is essential to manage your stress as it directly affects your fertility.
Too much of stress triggers of the production of alpha-amylase enzyme which makes it further hard to conceive. This enzyme postpones ovulation in women.
Try to counteract stress by indulging yourself into calming techniques like acupuncture, meditation, massage, reading books, music. Etc.
7. Vitamin D

Vitamin D plays a vital role in fertility, deficiency of which can cause even miscarriage. So you should get your vitamin D levels checked before planning to conceive. This vitamin is responsible for fertility as well as giving birth to a healthy baby.
Women with deficiency of vitamin D have more chances to get polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which is another reason for infertility.
Sunlight promotes the production of vitamin D in the body. So sit in the sunlight early in the morning for about 10 minutes.
Consume foods like salmon, cheese, egg yolks, mushrooms which are fortified with vitamin D.
You can also take vitamin D supplements after consulting your doctor.
8. Folic Acid
Folic acid is an essential vitamin for the women who are trying to have a baby. It promotes cell division and ovulation. This vitamin is recommended by the doctors before and during the prenatal period.
You can take folic acid supplements daily for 1 month before you conceive and throughout the first trimester. You can talk to your doctor to determine the dosage.
You can also consume foods like dark green leafy veggies, broccoli, avocado, raisins, beans and lentils which are enriched with vitamin D.
This herb is also known by the name of vitex. It is an excellent remedy for conceiving a baby. It facilitates ovulation and improves the hormonal balance in the body, which might be the reason for the difficulty in conceiving. It also fights PCOS which is one of the primary cause of infertility.
You can find this herb in the supplement form as well.
10. Stinging Nettle
Many health experts recommend stinging nettle for the people who are planning to have a baby. This herb is enriched with minerals that are beneficial for your body. It helps reduce stress which further improves your chances to get pregnant.
Add 1 Tbsp. of dried stinging nettle in a cup of hot water. Cover and brew for 5 minutes. Strain and add some honey. Drink 2-3 cups of this tea daily. Many nettle supplements are also available in the market. Do not take this herb if you’re pregnant.
