Reaping the Natural Benefits of Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera, better known as “Ghritkumari” and “Miracle plant” in India belongs to family Lily and grows in dry areas. It has got various medicinal benefits that could be seen in our day-to-day life.

The plant has green spongy leaves that store rainwater in the form of a gel. The miraculous healing nature of this plant was firstly discovered by the Egyptians. They use this Aloe Vera gel by applying on mummies so that they last longer. Although its uses are known by people for centuries, but its healing properties became very popular over past few years.

• The plant is green in colour, i.e. it is autotrophic (plants who prepare their food with the green coloured pigment known as chlorophyll)

• It has spongy, fleshy and thorny leaves

• It is bitter in taste due to presence of translucent sap in it

• The sap contains 8 essential amino acids, which are important for
human body. Amino acids are basic units of proteins that gives us healthy hair and skin. Keratin is a protein which is present in our hair.

• The sap contains 96% water and the remaining part contains organic as well as inorganic amino acids.

• For Skin

The goodness of Aloe Vera is not a secret at all! Its healing properties aids in removing of dead cells from the skin. It maintains pH of skin and moisturizes it well.

For dry skin: Mix some aloe Vera sap with honey and milk. Apply it on your face. Leave it undisturbed for 15 minutes, then, wash it with cold water and witness the results. It would surely help.

For Acne treatment: Take a little amount of aloe vera gel and mix it with grinded ground walnuts. Apply the paste on your face for 15 minutes. Rinse it with lukewarm water and feel the difference in 3-4 days.

For Sensitive Skin: Mix aloe vera with cucumber juice, lemon and honey. Apply it on your face for 20 minutes. Wash with cold water. It will brighten your skin.

For Sun Burns: Apply directly to the burned areas and let it dry for some time. Then, wash it with cold water. It will de-tan your skin instantly.

For wounds: you can apply it directly on the affected area. Aloe juice is anti-bacterial in nature, hence it will prevent the infection and heal the wound.

Aloe Vera is a treasure of goodness with its thousands of healing properties. It not only works well for skin, but also promotes hair growth. It is rich in proteolytic enzymes, which aids in repairing of dead skin cells on the scalp. Its anti-bacterial properties prevent fungal infection on scalp. The sap contains essential amino acids that provide you smooth and silky hair. It also helps in reducing dandruff and provides deep nourishment to the hair.
