Nothing could be better than eating steaming hot bread pakoras on a rainy day. But during monsoon, we should avoid eating out too much and thus I have come up with this cheese pakora recipe so that you can prepare it at home in the perfect sanitary condition. Unlike the regular bread pakora, these ones are stuffed with cheese and herbs.

So without any further due let’s get started with the recipe

  • White bread slices- 7-8
  • Cheese slices- 7-8
  • Gram flour/besan- 1 ½ cup
  • Ginger garlic paste- ½ tsp.
  • Chilli powder- 1 tsp.
  • Garam masala- ½ tsp.
  • Chili flakes- 2 tbsp.
  • Mixed herbs- 2 tbsp.
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Water- as required
  • Oil- for deep frying

  1.  In a bowl, take the gram flour, all the spices, ginger garlic paste and salt. Mix everything. Now start adding water to it little by little. Keep whisking the batter while you are adding the water as you don’t want any lumps. The batter should not be too runny or too thick. Once the batter is ready, keep it aside.
  2.  Now cut the bread slices as well as the cheese in halves (rectangles or triangles). Place two halves of cheese slices on one bread slice, sprinkle some chilli flakes and mixed herbs on the cheese slice and cover it with another bread slice. Prepare all the bread and cheese slices like this.
  3.  Heat oil in a kadhai for deep frying. When the oil is hot enough, dip the prepared bread slices in the batter so that the bread is completely cover with batter from all the sides really well. Drop the batter dipped bread slice in the hot oil and deep fry it on a medium flame.
  4.  Take out the bread pakora on a paper towel once it has cooked from all the sides and looks crispy and golden brown in colour. Deep fry all the pakoras in the same manner.
  5.  Serve the bread pakoras hot with your favourite chutney, sauce or dip.
